Telefonica I+D and Yahoo joined the WeKnowIt consortium.

More specifically, the two groups are the Data Mining and User Modeling Research group at Telefonica Research (TID) in Madrid, Spain that is led by Alejandro Jaimes and the Yahoo! Research Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain that is led by Prof. Ricardo Baeza-Yates.

Data Mining and User Modeling Research group focuses on human-centered approaches to data analysis for user  modeling, and algorithms and applications for personalization, decision support, and business intelligence. It also emphasizes principled data analysis taking transdisciplinary approaches that consider socio-cultural context, cognitive abilities, psychological factors, and personal preferences.

Specific research areas of Yahoo! Research Barcelona include natural language processing,  MUST  semantic web, query mining, distributed information retrieval, social media, multimedia retrieval,  and large-scale Web systems.
