Alex Sorin is a senior researcher in the Speech Technologies group at IBM Haifa Research Lab, Israel. He received his M.Sc. degree in Applied Mathematics from Moscow Oil and Gas Institute in 1979. During his 30 years long professional career Alex worked on research and software development in very diverse areas such as seismology, document imaging and speech processing. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and holds 8 patents. His current research interests encompass voice-based health assessment, voice emotion recognition, speech parameterization, statistical modeling and speech synthesis.
