R&D Director of Vistek ISRA Vision (Istanbul)
Dr. Ceyhun Burak Akgül is the R&D Director of Vistek ISRA Vision (Istanbul), coordinating industrial and social domain R&D projects and acting as lead research scientist. He has received the BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from Boğaziçi University (Istanbul) in 2002 and 2004 respectively, and the PhD degree from Boğaziçi University (Istanbul) and Télécom ParisTech (ENST Paris) in 2007. He has held the Marie Curie Research Scientist position at the Video Processing Analysis Group of Philips Research in 2008-2009. Besides his activities in Vistek ISRA Vision, Dr. Akgül is also a part-time faculty member in Boğaziçi University Electrical Engineering Dept., where he teaches image processing and computer vision-related courses, and co-supervises several graduate students. Dr. Akgül also organizes studio courses in the Architectural Design Computing Programme of Istanbul Technical University. His current research is focused on 3D computer vision, action recognition and modeling, content-based retrieval, image and shape description, data mining and machine learning. He has 6 journal and 50+ conference papers in these areas. He also is the inventor of a patent on relevance feedback.
