Traditional security frameworks often lack the integration required to swiftly connect threat detection with public health responses during biological emergencies. S2B-HopOn addresses the critical need for enhanced biosecurity and bio-preparedness across Europe by bridging the gap between security forces, first responders, and health professionals to ensure a unified, rapid, and effective response to biological incidents.
By prioritizing the transition from initial security alerts to comprehensive bio-preparedness, the project aims to deliver innovative solutions that:
• Enhance cross-sectoral cooperation among law enforcement, civil protection, and health authorities.
• Develop advanced tools for the early detection and rapid identification of biological agents.
• Improve risk assessment models and decision-support systems for effective crisis management.
• Enhance training methodologies and promote joint exercises for European first responders.
• Contribute to the development of future European policies and standards for biosecurity and resilience.
MKLab leads the development of advanced data analytics, digital intelligence, and situational awareness technologies within the project. Specifically:
• Developing a flexible data infrastructure to ingest, translate, and synchronize heterogeneous real-time streams including sensor data, high-resolution operational videos, and biological signals, across distinct European pilot scenarios.
• Building an AI-powered interface leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to extract knowledge from unstructured technical texts, link it with live sensor streams, and apply strict guardrails to provide safe, trustworthy operational insights for crisis commanders.
