Crete<\/a><\/b> is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands, the fifth-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea<\/a>, and one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece.<\/p>\n

Chania<\/a> is the second largest city<\/span> of Crete<\/span>, in the north cost of the island, about 145 km west of Heraklion<\/a><\/span>, a beautiful land brimming with natural beauty, history, and culture.<\/p>\n

The summer school will be held in the Conference Center of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute<\/strong> (<\/span>MAICH)<\/a>,\u00a0 at the south-east of Chania city centre.<\/p>\n

Accommodation<\/h3>\n

The student dormitories in MAICh campus can accommodate participants in double rooms (some of them with bunk bed) and single rooms with private facilities.<\/p>\n

How to travel to Chania<\/h3>\n

By airplane<\/em>: You have basically two options from Chania International Airport<\/a>, which is the closest and most recommended airport<\/strong>, and Heraklion Airport<\/a>, but then you will have to travel 3 hours by bus from Heraklion to Chania. Heraklion is situated 145 km (90 miles) from Chania. The bus fare is about 13.80 euros and takes about 2:45 minutes (you can find the timetable here<\/a>). The taxi costs approximately 80 euros.<\/p>\n

By Ferry<\/em>: Ferries to Chania (Souda port) leave from Athens (Piraeus port) on a daily basis. The overnight\/daytime trip takes about 9 hours.<\/p>\n

How to reach MAICh from the Airport<\/h3>\n

There is no direct bus service connecting the airport with MAICh. So the best way<\/strong> to reach MAICh from the airport is to take a taxi. The taxi costs approximately 25\u20ac.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, there is a local bus that can take you to the Central Bus Station in the city center (KTEL) from the airport (you can find the timetable here<\/a>). Bus tickets from airport to Chania city centre cost 2.30\u20ac. Then you can take a taxi from the city center and come to MAICh or local bus (line 13). The cost is approximately 10 Euro by taxi.
